The wessex specimen group was formed in November 2003 by Jay Bowditch and Paul Thomas who have spent many years shore angling in the wessex region.
It was felt that there was a shortfall in clubs who cater for specimen anglers and match anglers and so have now introduced a club with there own specimen award scheme and twelve shore fixtures a year. The group cater for the beginner through to the hardened specimen hunter whilst maintaining a friendly and close knit community.
Whilst the group is only in its sixth season it has already become a well respected organization with many quality fish recorded. We are are a small but consistent group of shore anglers who always welcome new members.

If you would like to get more from your angling and join our dedicated team then why not drop us a line using the contact us link on the navigation bar.
Our shore competitions are held on venues from the westerly fringes of west Sussex through to the steep shelving beaches of Dorset`s Chesil beach. The wide variety of venues allows a very mixed approach to members technique. From flounders, eels and mullet in the Solent's estuary's to whiting, rays and codling on the open beaches makes our league a great challenge to even the most experienced anglers.
Twelve shore competitions are held annually and are fished on a maximum weight system were points are scored and added to our league table. We also hold an annual species hunt which usually takes place over a twenty four hour period with the most number of species taking the top prize. There is also are constantly running specimen league which will give you chance to hone your skills on individual fish species.
